UAB “Žemaitijos keliai” is a certified road and bridge construction company, expanding its activities in the western part of Lithuania as well in Kaliningrad region, Russia. In late 1959, under the governmental order, the former Road Construction Board No.3 which used to operate in Kaunas was moved to Telšiai in the West of Lithuania, along with all material-technical base. In 1990, the RCB-3 was renamed into State Road Building Company, which then became one of the biggest road-building organisations in Lithuania. In 1994, it was reorganised into a limited liability company, and in 1997 it became UAB “Žemaitijos keliai”.

UAB “Žemaitijos keliai” carries out all road building and bridge construction works, produces asphalt concrete and concrete mixtures, reinforced concrete bridge structures, crushed granite stone used for asphalt concrete mixtures and treatment of pavement surfaces. There are approximately 300 employees in the company and 100 more workers are hired during the season.

In order to ensure proper functioning of the company, relevant material-technical base has been created including reinforced concrete and wood processing plants, stone-crusher, emulsion and asphalt concrete factories (one of which is located in Vigantiškiai village, 10 km from the city, and another in Kaliningrad region), mechanical repair shops and warehouses for machinery, ancillary facilities and the road laboratory.

UAB “Žemaitijos keliai” manufactures and sells the following certified materials: asphalt concrete and concrete mixtures, reinforced concrete products, bitumen emulsions and granite chippings. Some of reinforced concrete superstructures are manufactured for the whole Republic. In addition, the company produces and lays asphalt concrete using cold asphalt concrete mixtures. The company has a quality management system complying with the ISO 9001:2000 international standard.

In order to survive in the road building market, each year the company upgrades its machinery, renovates production premises, uses and introduces the most modern road building and maintenance technologies which enable us to build roads and construct objects of any complexity as well as to gain the recognition of our customers.
